These are designed to fit onto 3/16" ID Maple tubing on the barbed end. Use with 3/16" maple tubing. But the tap hole that you drill in your tree requires a 5/16" drill bit. . Manufactured from 304 stainless steel, these taps have been field tested and perform flawlessly under high vacuum with 3/16” tubing. It is recommended that you use a rubber or plastic head hammer so that you do not damage the taps. Tubing pushes right on to the barbed end of these taps. Taps can be used for collecting sap through tubing either in a tubing system or just using a short length of 3/16 tubing to gravity feed into a jug, pail, or tank at the base of your tree. -Can be cleaned by boiling in water each season to improve yield. -Made to last a lifetime with proper care. -Use a 5/16" drill bit to drill a hole into your tree and simply hammer this tap into place. -Made in USA.
